Many of you have (probably at least once in your life) come to need rain boots. When we were small children, we sometimes used rain boots – coloured or plain (or taken over from our siblings – no matter of their design or even which gender we were).
When we were teenagers and later on as adults, we didn’t have as many opportunities to use comfortable rain boots (if you hike every weekend, even in rain, then you are an exception). What most of the former rain boots users do not know is that even such boots can be stylish and can even complete one‘s outfit.
And there is an even more modern solution: rain shoe covers. We put them on when it starts to rain and take them off as soon as it stops raining. These cover our normal shoes so there is no need to have another pair of shoes in our closet (but as a woman I always embrace having another pair of shoes at home).
Rain boots: old-fashioned, but comfortable
There is a lot of old-fashioned styles, but there are also modern types of rain boot. Whether you need to complete your outfit or go hiking or fishing, there are a lot of great products to choose from, and you don’t need to worry about whether they will be comfortable – they usually are.
Sometimes they are filled with cotton or wool “sock” for more dry and warm feeling, however, this could also cause more sweaty feeling (but this depends on the exact purpose/recommended usage of the rain boots) and usually it is possible to take the whole “sock” out permanently.
The material used is mostly rubber or some combination of rubber and/or PVC.
The advantage is, as mentioned earlier, the rain boots could be quite comfy, but the old types sometimes look rural and women (men as well, of course) might not feel they are so stylish wearing such rain boots. Also, some of those are not ideal for city walking.
Luckily, for those people, who are looking for ideal rain boots (even for the city walking), we can recommend another solution.
With the modern types, which do not fit so much to the natural usage, come a new era of quite practical and stylish rain boots, which are also ideal for longer city walking (it depends on each model, whether longer city walk could be still comfortable or just annoying and sweaty,).
Therefore the importance of the material used in the boots is much higher.
However, such modern boots are not meant to be used for hiking (the shorter ones are not at all, the longer ones in some cases could be used for hiking as well, but need to be from quality material and have ideally a grip sole).
The desing of modern rain boots is quite better than it has been in the past and a lot of known producers have started to offer such modern boots in the stores. Of course, we can recommend some as well on our website.
Singing in the rain: put on your rain shoe covers and go
Many of the normal city walking shoes are not waterproof at all and therefore could be easily destroyed after some time walking in the rain or through the water. Even their producers does not recommend using them this way.
What if you bought new, wonderful shoes, that were not water resistant and it starts to rain (e.g. during a visit in a foreign country you would like to go for sightseeing, but it should rain from time to time during the day)?
One option could be to go buy another pair of waterproof shoes and wear them during such a rainy day, but another solution (and much more straightforward and cheaper as well) would be to have the rain shoe covers – let’s see what this means and why you also could consider using them as e.g. in the above case?
Rain shoe covers have one great feature: they covers your shoes, protect them from rain and water and are still quite comfortable. The way they look is not ideal, still, but it is a cheaper solution than throwing away your new shoes due to walking in the rain.
Also, they are re-usable, and could be comfortably stashed in your bag or backpack. You can put them on and take them off is very quickly due to the zipper easy opening/closing.
The ones we offer are for women as well for men and also have another plus – as they have a grip sole and also have an elastic strap, so you can freely adjust the tightness to avoid the cover falling off, which assures you all-around protection.
The pros and cons of rain boots and rain shoe covers are shown below:
Which one to choose.. (and why it matters)
Whether you prefer shoe covers or the rain boots, the best information we have is that there are a lot of products to be chosen from. The most fun are for small children as there are a lot of cute, coloured rain boots (for them rain boots are much more comfortable and suitable – you know, how children enjoy the water and rain, right?).
For adults, there are so many stylish and at same time practical rain boots, in which you even don’t sweat and still feel good after long walking.
Still, the rain boots should serve the purpose you need them for, and in case of hiking plans, be aware of which material of boots you choose, not all are suitable for such purposes. The same applies to longer city walking.
We recommend to look around and see whether we can recommend a solution, which will suit you. Also be aware and always follow the size charts as sometimes the sizes are different in China, Russia, UK and in the US.
The seller can help you with size decisions or can recommend one size bigger than your normal shoes, but always read the instructions below the products.
We wish you pleasant searching!
